Department of Consumer Affairs, India is one of the two departments under the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution. It is responsible for the formulation of policies for consumer cooperatives, monitoring prices, consumer movement, and controlling statutory bodies. It also implements various acts such as the Consumer Protection Act of 2019, the Bureau of Indian Standards Act of 2016, the Legal Metrology Act of 2009, and the Essential Commodities Act of 1955. The department aims to protect and promote the rights of Indian consumers.
